If it is true that in all the fairy tales is hidden a truth, this tale by Ida Testa is the example of the best expression of true historical events poetically turned into a fairy tale. The toponym Pietraperaia for example, stands for Pietramelara, and the names of the nobles, the marquises Maternò conceal the historical Paternò, while the village Valpellier is Montpellier. In eff ects the nobles were all relatives of Maria Giuseppa Mozzi, the author’s grandmother, who was the last marquise of Florence and countess of PIetramelara, Riardo and Roccaromana. The two villages Pietramelara and Montpellier have been twinned for centuries and Saint Rocco is the patron saint of both. So as the names of the noble families, the king is Frederic Monfort of Aragon.
Ida Testa was born on 31st January 1953 in Caserta, the hometown which she never left in spite of the large number of journeys she has made since she was a child. She has published for Europa Edition Contemporanea and Contemporanea 2.0, for Aletti editor Poesie 3.0 with the preface of F. Gazzè.
